Family Time is a new initiative developed by the John Paul II Cultural Centre to be a faith formation tool that families can use to come together in prayer and educate themselves on the teachings of the Catholic Faith. As Catholics, we believe that parents are the primary educators of their children and must take this responsibility seriously. To educate their children can be a daunting task and parents may feel that they are not equipped to provide this education. We at the John Paul II Culture Centre want to help parents to embrace their role of primary educators of their children by providing them with the tools they need, such as Family Time, to make the process as easy as possible for parents without sacrificing the quality of education.
Family Time is a subscription based, guided reflection that is sent to participants each week via e-mail. Families who sign up will be asked to set aside one hour each week to go through this reflection. Whenever possible we are asking husbands to lead each one-hour session of family time with his family. We are asking wives to support their husbands in his role of spiritual head of the household by being an enthusiastic participant in Family Time and encouraging the children to join in.
An important component of Family Time is having a snack or treat to share together as a family while you are going through the reflection each week. These treats are meant to remind us of the sweetness of God’s grace in our lives. It also makes Family Time more enjoyable in the hopes that children will begin to look forward to your Family Time sessions.
