Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible

April 20 to June 29, 2017

Location: St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Lucan, Ontario.

Course Description:

This is an eight-part Bible study with author and theologian Jeff Cavins. We will journey through the whole Bible and discover God’s plan for our lives. If you would like to have a deeper relationship with God and a better understanding of your faith, then join us for Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible. You will not only benefit personally from being part of this study; you will also help to bring about a profound renewal in our parish as we grow closer to Christ. If you would like to participate in this study please join us in the parish hall on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. beginning on April 20, 2017. The study will be run on the following dates:

April 27th – The Early World
May 4th – No Session
May 11th – The Patriarchs
May 18th – Egypt and Exodus, Desert Wanderings.
May 25th – No Session
June 1st – Conquest and Judges, Royal Kingdom
June 8th – Divided Kingdom, Exile, Return
June 15th – No Session
June 22nd – Maccabean Revolt, Messianic Fulfillment – Part 1
June 29th – Messianic Fulfillment – Part 2, The Church

Cost is $50 per person and includes a workbook, online access to the videos, and a Bible Timeline Chart.

An Introduction to the Theology of the Body

Theology of the Body and Your Marriage

June 2-4, 2017

Location: John Paul II Cultural Centre

Retreat Description:

Enjoy a weekend away with your spouse to learn about God’s plan for living a joy-filled marriage given to us by Pope St. John Paul II in his Theology of the Body. The weekend is designed to give you ad your spouse time for rest, reflection, and fellowship with other married couples all while learning about God’s plan for living a joy-filled marriage given to us by Pope St. John Paul II in his Theology of the Body. Join us as we enter into the mystery of God’s plan for spousal love and learn practical ways that the Theology of the Body can help you to grow in your love for each other.

The retreat begins on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. and goes to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. There will be a total of four sessions over the course of the weekend. Between each session there will be time for hiking, volleyball, or to enjoy nature. Couples will also have time to relax and enjoy our facilities.

Session One: God’s Plan for Your Marriage

Session Two: How To Get Your Spouse to Heaven

Session Three: Building Happiness: Managing Your Time, Money, and Energy

Session Four: Fostering Intimacy in Your Marriage: Prayer and Sexuality

Cost is $390 per couple and includes accommodations, food and retreat resources. Child care and meals for children can be provided for an additional cost of $25 per child.

Chipnee Trails Summer Camp

At Chipnee, we aim to create an atmosphere of fun and excitement where campers can develop new interest, practice a spirit of service, work as a team, explore nature, and make lasting friendships. Family camp is a wonderful opportunity for families to relax and play together in a wholesome environment.  With a hired cook and kitchen staff to prepare three hot meals each day, there is lots of unstructured time to spend just being together as a family and with other great families.  Moms, dads and children and teenagers of all ages have enjoyed their time at family camp: swimming, playing sports, card and board games, reading, visiting with others, eating great food, … in an outdoors, media/digital technology-free environment.  The parents can learn from each other during the daily parent discussion time.  The spiritual lives of all are fed at daily Mass, the opportunity for Confession, and the rosary around the campfire each evening.

Anchor Girl's Camp

August 20 – 25, 2017

Location: John Paul II Cultural Centre

Anchor Camp seeks to foster virtues in young girls in an atmosphere of fun. The Camp allows the girls to realize that having fun is a natural part of living a virtuous life.

Anchor Camp has been inspired by the writings of St. Josemaria Escriva, the founder of Opus. Brief talks on virtue and character development will be incorporated into each day’s activities. Daily Mass and Rosary will be available for those who wish. In addition to spiritual growth, campers will have opportunities for sports, crafts, drama, and dance.
